Dr. Amanda Johnston completed her Bachelor’s degree in Zoology at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. After graduation, she moved to Chicago and worked as a research technician at Northwestern Medical School. She then attended veterinary school at the University of Illinois. While at U of I, she volunteered at the Wildlife Medical Clinic, interned at various zoos, and visited Uganda for a student research project. Through these experiences, she developed an interest in exotic species, in addition to her love for dogs and cats.
Dr. Johnston’s first position as a new veterinarian was at an exotics and emergency specialty center in Elmwood Park. She then moved to the North suburbs and began practicing small animal medicine on dogs and cats. She currently lives in Mundelein with her husband, adorable 1 year old son, an older FIV+ Siamese mix, and a Japanese Chin mix with a ton of personality. In her spare time, she enjoys travel, spending time outdoors, hiking, gardening, and cooking.
Dr. Johnston is very excited to join the team at Village Veterinary Clinic, and looks forward to meeting all of the wonderful clients and their animal family members, whether they are dogs, cats, small mammals, birds, or reptiles.
